Swine Flu Reminds Us...
To wash hands thoroughly.  To properly wash hands, use soap and hot water, lathering tops and backs of hands, in between fingers and under nails.  While you lather and scrub, sing the happy bithday song to yourself...scrub for the entire duration of the song.

Oh, yeah, be sure to wash your fruits and veg thoroughly—not just a quick rinse!  People sneeze on them (gross, I know), and you don't want to eat germy food.

Stay clean and safe!

Celebrate Irish Food with Boxty
If you never heard of boxty, but you like potato pancakes, rosti or latkes, you’ll probably love this traditional Irish potato pancake.  Boxty is like a cross between a pancake and a hashbrown.  They are super fun for kids to make.

Interview with Alice Waters
I have been rereading Alice Waters' children's cookbook, Fanny at Chez Panisse, recently and geban to wonder about the viability of such an approach to eating, as the book's protagonist meets so many farmers and chefs who all source food for the restaurant.  I'm not sure what to think about this 60 Minutes interview with her.  I am not sure what to make of Leslie Stahl's attitude.  I find the farmer's market to be more affordable than the grocery store.  What do you think?  Waters is veggier than thou or simply makes sense?
